PURPOSE: The goal of the art education virtual conference is to connect art educators through technologies and to exchange ideas on using digital technologies in art education. Art educators will explore the possibilities and benefits of using virtual world technology to deliver and participate in presentations.

 

THEME: Creativity always holds an important position in art education. How to make creative and meaningful art, how to use materials and skills creatively, how to creatively use visual communication in art works: these are just few of the questions that art educators never stop pondering.

With today’s advanced technology, creativity in art education becomes even more important. When people create a website or an app, how to catch the attention of users and hold their interest requires a creative solution. When people use 3D printers or virtual goggles to create technological content, art and creativity are the two of the most important skills required.

We encourage art educators to think and rethink the importance of creativity in art education and in the era of technology. Here are a few questions and ideas that we encourage participants to consider and discuss.

  • How do we define creativity in the era of digital technologies?
  • How can we foster creativity through digital technologies?
  • How does creativity in new technologies influence the field of visual culture?
  • What are the future possibilities of using technology to foster creativity?
  • What are the possibilities of interdisciplinary collaboration to foster student creativity?
  • How does the Makers Movement foster creativity in art education?
  • A critical reflection of using technology to achieve creativity in art education.
  • A vision or anticipation of using virtual world technology to achieve creativity in art education.

PROPOSAL GUIDELINE

  • Submit a proposal to inaeaorg@gmail.com
  • The proposal should be no more than 200 words.
  • The presentation title should be included in the email and in the attached document.
  • Panel discussions and roundtable discussions are strongly encouraged.

KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

  • Opening keynote: Virtual world expert (To be announced)

FORMATS GUIDELINES

  • Panel Discussions: Virtual world panel: 50 minutes (30 minute panel presentation with 20 minute discussion.)
  • Lectures: Virtual world lecture: 40 minutes (20 minute presentation with 20 minutes in world/Google hangout discussion.)
  • Workshops: Virtual world workshop: 50 minutes
  • 3D Poster: Each poster presenter(s) will have a limit of 15 prims* to construct the poster. (* In Second Life, everything is made by prims. A prim is a single-part object. Multi-part objects will have multiple "prims".)
  • Exhibition: Machinima, video, and art should be submitted in an electronic format. Educators are encouraged to submit their own and their students’ media art.
