This is a very good question. The SL time is "in-Viewer clock to show Pacific Time instead (PDT or PST depending on daylight savings)"
To be more specifically,
7AM SL time= 7AM PDT/PST
                          8AM MST/MDT
                          9AM CDT/CST
                                                         10AM EST/EDT
                                                         1PM WET
                                                         2PM CET
                                                         3PM EET
                                                         11PM Beijing
                                                         12PM Tokyo/Seoul  

For me, I always open Second Life, before log in, look at the time shows on the top right hand side corner: Current time, to identify Second Life time.
(The reason I use SL time is because some places does not apply daylight saving time.)
